Every year, around 300 events take place at the Amsterdamse Bos. The forest’s beautiful, robust and intimate ambience provides the perfect setting for family activities, film and photo shoots, corporate outings and weddings as well as theatre, sports and dance events. Check out the Boskalender (Forest's Calendar, in Dutch) for upcoming events in the Forest. Below, you find a selection of what happens throughout the year, to give an impression.

March: Fishing tournament

Every year dozens of experiences fishermen (and -women) test their skills at the Bosbaan. For more information, visit ahv.mijnhengelsportvereniging.nl.

March: AmstelveenZ Lentemarathon

Our neighbouring city, Amstelveen, organises the Lente Marathon (Spring Marathon), that party runs through the Amsterdamse Bos. For more information, visit lentemarathon.nl/en.

April: Paroba Scouting

Youthful scouts put their outdoor knowledge and skills into practice at the Land van Bosse in the Amsterdamse Bos. For more information, visit https://paroba.nl/.

April: Hollandia Rowing Races

Annual rowing contest at the Bosbaan between crews and individual rowers. Also exciting to watch, so sit down in the grass and enjoy the view! For more information, visit hollandia-roeiwedstrijden.nl.

April: Dachau Remembrance

Annual remembrance of the liberation of Dachau concentration camp on 29 April 1945, held at the National Dachau Monument.

May (and more): Pure Markt

The Pure Markt (Pure Market) is one of Holland's most renowned markets; a source of exceptional, artisanal, Dutch and international products, food and creativity. Approximately 70% of the stalls are food related and the rest is a mix of designer, vintage and gift items. The Pure Markt is a traveling Sunday market with its base in Amsterdam. The market takes place at the Amsterdamse Bos several times a year.

May: Amsterdam Forest Evening Walk

Annual four-day evening walk of five or ten kilometers, organised by the Aalsmeerse Wandelsport Vereniging. The walk starts at the Amsterdam Forest Visitors’ Centre. For more information, visit awv-aalsmeer.nl.

May: Diynamic Festival

Electronic music to a backdrop of the trees, at Amsterdamse Bos’s Land van Bosse. For more info, visit diynamicfestival.com.

June: 909 Festival

Rolling techno beats, fairytale-like lighting and a magical atmosphere. 909 is an intimate, one-stage techno fest held at Amsterdamse Bos’s Land van Bosse from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm. For more information, visit 909.nl.

June: Hockey Pro League Tournament

Head to the Wagener stadium for the the Pro League Hockey Tournament! For more information, visit hockey.nl/tag/hockey-pro-league.

June: Midsummer Night’s Cross

Running event in the Amsterdam Forest held on the longest Friday of the year. The race starts at the main entrance to the Bos. Distances range from two kilometers (youth race) to 10 English miles (well trained runners). For more information, visit midzomernachtcross.nl.

June: Night of the Refugee

Thousands of walkers throughout the country walk 10, 20 or 40 kilometers to raise money for emergency aid to refugees. For more information, visit nachtvandevluchteling.nl

July: Rough Golf Tournament

The Amsterdamse Bos will be turned into an 18-hole golf course for this tournament. For more information, visit amsterdamsebosgolf.nl.

July to September: outdoor theater

Every summer, the Bostheater company offers a new performance at the outdoor theatre in the Amsterdamse Bos. For more information, visit bostheater.nl.

August: OWW Swimming Competition

Open water swimming competition at the Bosbaan. For more information, visit noww.nl.

August Dekmantel Festival

Three-day techno fest at the Land van Bosse with festival campsite. For more information, visit dekmantelfestival.com.

August: Once in a Blue Moon

A full day of the best Americana, country, folk, blues & roots rock music on multiple stages in the stunning setting of the wooded area of the Amsterdamse Bos. For more information, visit onceinabluemoonfestival.nl/english.

August: Bosbaanswim

Annual recreational swimming competition in the Bosbaan. Open to anyone aged 12 and over with a swimming diploma. Swim distances are 2,000, 1,000 and 500 meters. For more information, visit bosbaanswim.nl.

September: National Canoe Sprint Championships

Short sprint event in the Bosbaan in which the country’s best canoeists compete for the Dutch championship. For more information, visit watersportverbond.nl/kano.

September: Finance Run

Annual 5- and 10-kilometer running event for the financial sector. For more information, visit financerun.nl.

September: Dragon Boat Race

An open canoe with a dragon’s head at the bow with 16 rowers paddling in unison to the beat of a drum is always a special sight. The programme includes 200 and 500-meter races as well as a 2,000-meter race. For more information, visit ehdc.nl.

October: Run for KiKa

Run through the forerst to raise money for the fight against childhood cancer. For more information, visit runforkika.nl/en.

October: Nacht van de Nacht

National annual event aimed at raising awareness about light pollution. Exciting activities in the dark for young and old alike are held in the Amsterdamse Bos. For more information, visit nachtvandenacht.nl.
