The main entrance to the Amsterdamse Bos is at the crossing Van Nijenrodeweg/Amstelveenseweg. To the left of the main entrance you will find the Visitors' Centre 'De Boswinkel'. This is the place to go for information about all activities, buying souvenirs and any other questions. ‘De Boswinkel’ is open from Tuesday till Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed on Monday). The admission to the forest is free.
There are several ways to access the Amsterdam Forest.
Access by bike
Take the bike from the city centre and cycle along several Amsterdam highlights to the Amsterdamse Bos in approximately 20 minutes. The Bos itself also has unique green biking trails through several attractions. It is possible to rent a bike at the main entrance of the Bos.
Access by public transport
Discover the Amsterdamse Bos with the Amsterdam & Region Day Ticket. This is a special 24-hour public transport pass valid on trams, buses and metros operated by Connexxion, GVB and EBS. Are you in possession of an Iamsterdam Citycard? Then you can buy the Region Day Ticket for only €10 (normal price is €13,50) at the Visitor Information Centres in Amsterdam, at selected hotels and at ticket counters of the participating public transport companies.
Amsterdam Central Station - main entrance Amsterdamse Bos
Take bus line 170, 172 or 174. These buses depart every 5 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station (Prins Hendrikplantsoen). Jump off at the Van Nijenrodeweg/Amstelveenseweg. Don’t forget to stop by Visitors' Centre 'De Boswinkel' for a map of the Bos and information about activities.
The museumtram departs from Haarlemmermeerstation and has several stops along the Bos. The museumtram runs on Sundays and on holidays from mid-April to mid-October.
