Visitors' Centre 'De Boswinkel'
Entering the Bos through the main entrance at the Van Nijenrodeweg, you won’t be able to miss Visitors’ Centre 'De Boswinkel'. With its domed shape and curved wooden finishing, it is a fitting entrance to one of the largest city parks in Europe.
Corona Update: Visitors' Centre 'De Boswinkel' is open again. Wednesday to Friday: open from 12.00 to 17.00 and Saturday and Sunday: open from 10.00 to 17.00. Childrens activities are suspended until December 11th.
The shop at Visitors’ Centre 'De Boswinkel' sells maps to help you navigate your way through the Forest. Just remember that the Amsterdamse Bos is three times the size of New York’s Central Park!
If you have any forest-related questions, please visit the 'De Boswinkel'. Our staff will be delighted to help you. It is also a perfect place to buy souvenirs or to join an activity in the forest as a guided walk or an activity for families. 'De Boswinkel' also offers visitors free admission to varying exhibitions.
Forest Gnome Trail
Update (13-08-20): the Forest Gnome Trail is out of order.
The Amsterdamse Bos has a Forest Gnome Trail, for children aged 3 to 6 years. With assignments also available in English!
If you would like to see the forest from the water, you can! From May to September, excursion boats chug through just about all the waterways in the Amsterdamse Bos. Excursions take one and half hour.
Boarding at the Amsterdamse Manege (stables), Nieuwe Kalfjeslaan 25, 1182 AA Amstelveen. Maximum number of participants: 30. Mind you, these boat excursions are in Dutch!
Please contact De Boswinkel for further information. Rates available on demand.
Please check for the dates of boat excursions: https://www.amsterdamsebos.nl/boskalender/
Tickets can be picked up at 'De Boswinkel' up to one hour prior to boarding. This is to allow enough time to reach the Amsterdamse Manege (Stables). Tickets are non-refundable.

The Bosbaan is not only an idyllic spot for rowing and canoeing, it is also a great fishing area for anglers. Membership of the Amsterdam Angling Association (AHV) is required in order to fish in the Amsterdamse Bos. Membership cards are available at 'De Boswinkel'. In summer, amateur fishing is also allowed in the part of the forest south of the A9 motorway.
